Announcement by the Foundation for Democracy in the 21st Century Concerning the Bestowing of the Third "Victims' Family Member Award" on Ms. Jia Jianying

  On October 6 , 2005, The Foundation for Democracy in the 21st Century offered the third "Victims' Family Member Award" to Ms. Jia Jianying. This will not only give honor and dignity to the recipient who so richly deserves this award, but also honor the Foundation for Democracy in the 21st Century. It is one of the missions of the "Victims' Family Member Award" to bring public attention and respect to those who have been denied their right to speak in today's China where the moral heroes are eclipsed by those in the political and entertainment circles. There are very few "conscience heroes" on our radar screen who are as little-known and yet morally powerful as Ms. Jia Jianying.   Details

Announcement by the Foundation for Democracy in the 21st Century Concerning the Bestowing of the Second "Victims' Family Member Award" on Ms. Lu Kun

  Responding to the nomination by two Chinese scholars in the U.S., we are pleased to offer the second "Victims Family Member Award" to Ms. Lu Kun. This is to express our respect for Ms. Lu Kun and show our concern for the family members of the political prisoners as well as the incarcerated political prisoners themselves. Like Yang Zili and Lu Kun, we have variously experienced similar family disasters for political reasons. Our spouses can easily relate to their sufferings and identify with their hardships. Their courage has inspired us to continue this award despite all the difficulties until the day arrives when no family members in China are crying in the middle of the night for the fate and plight of their loved ones.   Details

Public Announcement by the Foundation for China in the 21st Century on the Bestowing of the First "Award to Victims' Families" to Ms. Chen Mingxian

  We are honored today to offer the first "Award to Victims' Families" to Ms. Chen Mingxian. We would also like to take this opportunity to urge the Chinese government to provide humane treatment to political prisoners and their family members, quickly release Mr. Liu Xianbin and other political prisoners, and provide an environment where all political and academic dissidents and their family members can enjoy their basic human rights including freedom from fear.   Details
